Turn Your Living Room Into a Shared AR Battle Zone

Turn Your Living Room Into a Shared AR Battle Zone

TL;DR: Floorcraft Blasters turns your living room into a shared AR battle zone. You scan a QR code and every phone sees the same obstacles in the same physical spots, no drift. Built on Auki Labs' posemesh with decentralized Relay servers, it has Free For All PvP and a co-op Mayhem tower defense mode.

My Journey with Floorcraft: Blasters, Bringing Shared AR to Your Living Room

The world of spatial computing is moving incredibly fast, and working with Auki Labs has shown me that the "Real World Web" is about much more than just industrial automation or warehouse logistics. It's about how we interact with each other in physical spaces. A project that really shows what this looks like in action is Floorcraft: Blasters, a perfect example of how their tech can turn a simple coffee table or living room floor into a high energy digital battle zone.

What is Floorcraft: Blasters to Me?

I see Floorcraft: Blasters as more than just a game. It's an AR action experience where you pilot hover vehicles and battle your friends with lasers, but the magic is in the shared experience. Most mobile games trap you inside your own screen, but here, everything is social. You scan a QR code to sync up, and suddenly everyone in the room sees the same obstacles and opponents in the exact same physical spots. It's local multiplayer the way it was meant to be.

How You Can Play

There are a few ways to jump into the action:

Free for All (PvP): This is the classic battle royale. You'll need to dodge obstacles and use towers for cover while trying to out-blast your friends to top the local leaderboard.

Mayhem Mode (Co-op): If you're like me and sometimes prefer teaming up, Mayhem mode is a tower defense challenge. You and your friends protect a central tower from waves of alien enemies and bosses spawning right in the room.

The Tech That Makes It Work: The Posemesh

One of the reasons I'm so invested in this project is the technology behind it. Most AR apps struggle with things drifting around or lagging when you try to play with others.

Floorcraft is built on the posemesh, which is a decentralized protocol that handles spatial data differently:

Zero Lag Gameplay: The game runs on a network of Relay servers (formerly known as Hagall). These are decentralized and hyperlocal, which gives the app the ultra low latency needed for a fast paced shooter.

Perfect Alignment: Because of the posemesh, our devices collaborate to keep the digital world perfectly aligned with the physical one without needing a giant central server.

True Privacy: I value privacy, and so does this tech. Unlike big tech companies that want to map your house and save it to their servers, the posemesh is decentralized and keeps your spatial data private.

What Tomicz Engineering is Working On

Floorcraft: Blasters started as a project to demonstrate the power of the posemesh and was recently open sourced to the community. This is where Tomicz Engineering LLC comes in.

Our team is currently working on an official grant for Auki Labs to improve and expand the Floorcraft experience. We are deep in the trenches working on the Android port to ensure this experience is available to everyone, regardless of what phone is in their pocket. Breaking down the walls between iOS and Android for shared AR is a huge priority for us under this grant.

We are also pushing hard toward the 0.6 release. This is a massive milestone that will introduce blockchain wallet integration, connecting the game to the $AUKI token economy on the Base blockchain. We have already integrated NFT functionality into the game: owning a Domain NFT now unlocks exclusive in-game content, creating a direct link between digital ownership and the AR experience. We're also squashing critical bugs and tweaking performance to make sure the gameplay is as smooth as possible.

Looking Ahead

Whether you want a new way to hang out with friends or you're curious about how we'll interact with tech in the future, Floorcraft: Blasters is an interesting and addictive look at what's coming next. I'm excited that Tomicz Engineering is playing a key role in making this happen.
