Audio in Unity runs through three pieces: an AudioClip is the sound file, an AudioSource plays it, and the single AudioListener (usually on the camera) hears it. Put an Audio Mixer in front of the listener and you get volume groups, effects, and snapshots that a settings menu can control. Sound is the cheapest way to make a game feel finished.
