Coroutines let a method pause and resume across frames, which is how you write a countdown, a fade, a spawn wave, or a delayed explosion without freezing the game. They are still the most common way to sequence time in Unity code, and in Unity 6 they sit next to Awaitable and async, so it pays to know exactly when each one fits.
